Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Phone With Tri Fold Display

1 min read

A recent tweet by tipster Roland Quandt has suggested that there is no chance of Samsung releasing the purported Galaxy S23 FE this year. This comes after the company was rumoured to be launching the ‘Fan Edition’ variant of its latest flagship in 2022. The smartphone was expected to be priced at a lower price point than the base model, giving users a more affordable option that doesn’t compromise on features or performance.

Despite this, the tipster has also revealed that there is another device in development at Samsung, and it could be a new type of foldable phone with a “Tri-Fold” display. The three-part fordable phone might be akin to the concepts showcased at CES last year, and it may even have two hinges.

While the tri-fold phone might sound pretty cool, it could present some technical hurdles because it would theoretically have one of its three panels exposed to wear and tear. This makes it difficult to ensure that the device can maintain its quality at all times.

However, if Samsung manages to overcome these issues, this will be a huge step forward in the world of folding phones. Moreover, if the company can come up with a device that’s both affordable and offers top-of-the-line specifications, it will have a big advantage over its competitors.

The smartphone is tipped to launch later this year, and it’s likely to come with either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy or 2022’s top dog, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. While these chips are a bit underpowered for a phone like this, they should be enough to power the device without compromising on performance.

Meanwhile, the ‘Fan Edition’ version of the Galaxy S23 series usually has an attractive price tag, and it would be great to see Samsung finally make this affordable alternative to its own flagships. It would give the S23 series a proper place among its rivals, and it could even help it compete with Google’s upcoming Pixel 7a when it launches later this year.

But if the ‘Fan Edition’ version doesn’t launch this year, it will have to wait for 2023, according to a report by Hankooki (via SamMobile). The report suggests that Samsung will release the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE in the second half of the year and it is expected to be launched alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

While Samsung’s ‘Fan Edition’ line of smartphones has been on the skids for a while now, it’s still worth keeping an eye on this segment because the S23 FE is expected to come with a lower price tag than its competitors. It’s also likely to sport a premium chipset and a high-resolution camera, making it a viable competitor to its own Galaxy S23 series. If it can do that, then Samsung might be able to get its fan base back and make the ‘Fan Edition’ a real hit.
