What to Expect at a First Aid Training Course?

Let’s be honest, first aid training is among the most important courses you’ll ever take in your life. Actually, it’s an opportunity to discover how to do some truly life-saving stuff that will get you equipped with all the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to deliver potentially life-saving assistance.

It’s always essential to come prepared for a whole day of occupational first aid training. We have put together these guidelines to give you a heads-up on what to expect on an occupational first aid course Singapore.

Preparation for First Aid Course

A couple of things can be done to make everything go as planned. When it comes to the clothing, it is important to wear loose-fitting, comfortable, casual clothes. The nature of some first aid demonstrations calls for kneeling, which can be uncomfortable and difficult when wearing tight-fitting clothes.

There are some first aid courses that don’t call for any prior readings or knowledge. Usually, only a learning guide will be offered unless you take advanced first aid, which needs pre-course reading and study before attending the course.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, always show up on the day of your occupational first aid training with a positive attitude and willingness to partake in different practical scenarios. Once everything is sorted, it is time to get started with the actual training.

Learning First Aid Course

A combination of practical and theory sessions will be used to teach first aid principles during your course. You’ll learn how to examine a casualty, ensure scene safety, perform basic life support, resuscitation, use a defibrillator, and deal with bleeding and trauma.

The occupational first aid course you partake in will cover important first aid skills, including wound care, management of burns, and helping with choking and breathing emergencies. Also, you can learn how to identify shocks, deal with fractures, and cope with sudden illnesses like seizures, strokes, and heart attacks.

A significant chunk of first aid courses for workers in Singapore can be completed in a day, but there are those which may require a couple of days depending on the complexity and the content of the course. You’ll get a first aid certification upon successful completion of the training.

However, you need to remember that some of the training’s content will feature scenarios that directly mimic real-life situations during an emergency, which other people might find to be emotionally upsetting.
