Red Flags to Watch Out for When Renting a Self-Storage Unit

If you’ve already made up your mind to move or downsize, high chances are you want to rent a storage space. That way, you do not have to worry about keeping your belongings safe prior to a move. But with self-storage facilities popping up almost every other day, you may feel overwhelmed when searching for the best. This is mostly the case if you plan on renting a storage space for the very first time.

Nevertheless, this should not be the underlying reason why you are going through a hard time. To ensure your decision is well-informed, here are two red flags to watch out for when renting a self-storage unit.

Poor Security

When you rent a storage space, you expect your belongings to be safe at all times and that’s why you are paying for the vertical storage system in the first place. If a prospective storage space service provider does not seem to prioritize premium security, feel free to walk away.  Without ample security, the chances of your items disappearing becomes greater.

Ensure, the storage facility you settle on prioritizes the security of your belongings by installing a perimeter fence, CCTV cameras and hiring security guards. Anything less than this is a big red flag.

Negative Online Reviews and Testimonials

Many people tend to express their level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction in a review after paying for a product or service. Things are not any different when it comes to storage space service providers and that’s why you need to spend some time going through their online reviews and testimonials. In so doing, you can find out what current and previous customers are saying about their service.

Are they speaking ill about the vertical storage system service provider? If so, this is a big red flag as it might mean poor services. Relying on such a storage space may end up costing you big time in the long-run. Nevertheless, you should not let one negative review tarnish the entire reputation of a storage facility since they may be amassing numerous positive reviews.

Final Thoughts

Not every storage facility is Singapore is going to guarantee maximum satisfaction. Some are only interested in duping unsuspecting customers off their hard-earned money. So, take time to do your due diligence before signing on the dotted line. Hopefully, these red flags can serve as a good starting point when performing a search.
