Evil Dead Rise – A Horror Sequel About Motherly Love Gone Awry

The horror franchise known as Evil Dead is back for a fifth installment with a mother possessed by a parasitic demon that talks, taunts, and devours souls. The film, directed by Lee Cronin, stars Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan as two sisters struggling with the most nightmarish version of motherhood possible.

A road-weary Beth (Sutherland) visits her sister Ellie, who is raising three children in a cramped L.A. apartment and discovers a mysterious book in the basement.

What begins as a reunion quickly turns into the worst nightmare of her life. As she enters the cramped apartment, a creature wreaks havoc throughout her surroundings.

Upon further investigation, the sisters realize that there’s something sinister lurking in the building, and it has its agenda: to spread Deadites, an ancient plague of evil spirits that prey on human flesh.

As the sisters search for clues, they confront this insidious creature head-on.

When the sisters discover the Necronomicon, a supernatural book that can unleash the Deadites, they’re thrust into a deadly battle for survival and Ellie’s soul.

The film’s premise is similar to Raimi’s original, but the plot has changed slightly. Alyssa Sutherland plays a stressed single mother, and she’s joined by Lily Sullivan, who previously appeared in Barkskins for National Geographic.

As they explore the bowels of Ellie’s apartment, they discover the Necronomicon, and the Deadites begin to spread their evil across the city.

With the help of a detective and her partner, Beth sets out to discover the source of these Deadites and save her sister’s kids from the demons.

But as the sisters reunite and the Deadites start to take over, Beth must fight against her demons to stop them from killing her family and destroying her soul.

It’s a bloody, brutal sequel from the makers of the classic film that started the series in 1981. However, it’s also a new entry in the franchise with a fresh cast and a director taking over creative control from Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell.

This is a horror movie with an emphasis on blood and gore that’s perfect for fans of the cult series. The latest entry in the franchise will be released on April 21, 2023, and it’s sure to deliver a blood-soaked experience with plenty of shocks and frights for horror buffs and mature audiences.

Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, and Morgan Davies join Gabrielle Echols and Mia Challis in the cast of Evil Dead Rise.

The film is written and directed by Lee Cronin, who previously worked on the 2015 film The Hole in the Ground. The film stars Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan as Ellie and her sister Beth, with Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, Nell Fisher, and Mia Challis as the sisters’ young children.

Raimi and Campbell will be on hand as executive producers. Still, the filmmakers are passing their creative control to Cronin, and according to Collider, filming for the latest Evil Dead sequel ended in October of this year.
